Crescent Farms Course Overview

The course has Zoysia fairways, zoysia collars and large bentgrass greens. Some holes amble over flat stretches while others take advantage of the rolling terrain. This is a great course for walkers, players who take on golf the way it was meant to be played.

It is the kind of layout that offers you a fresh adventure with every round you play. Best of all, our rounds average about four hours as compared to five or six hours at many other clubs. You can keep up your tempo of play and not lose concentration on your swing and strategy.

Overall, our 18 provides exciting chances to show off your best strategic skills and accuracy. Take our water and trees, for example.

“Water is in play on 14 of 18 holes, including ponds and some creeks,” said Todd VanArsdale, Crescent Farms' Head Golf Professional. “But for the most part, those water hazards are off to the side and will only catch wandering tee shots.”

You'll start your round on a medium-length par-4 (385 yards from the back and 250 from the front) where you will hit your drive from hilltop tee boxes over a creek. It's a dramatic scene that will start you off on a golfing high. The landing area that stretches before you has a bunker on the left with mounds and a creek on the right.

After a relaxed start on the first few holes, get ready for the 4th, a long par-4 (450 yards from the back tees and 356 from the front). This dogleg left has a bunker on the left and water on the right.

“This is really the first tough hole,” VanArsdale said.

Probably our most popular hole is the 8th. This picturesque par-3 measures 163 yards from the tips and 130 yards from the front and requires a tee shot over a lake to a green surrounded by trees. A ridge in the middle of the green runs from left to right.

No. 9 is probably the toughest on the course, a long par-4 dogleg left. You'll hit your tee shot between two bunkers and then travel uphill to a two-tiered green. Watch out for the big tree guarding the green on the right.

On the back nine, you'll start out with a par-4 that is among the holes that we lengthened a few years ago.

The 11th is a double dogleg par-5 with three water hazards. When you hit your drive, you'll need to avoid the water on the right. Then the second shot to a narrow strip of fairway has water threatening both right and left.

“It's something of a risk-reward shot for big hitters,” VanArsdale said. “If you cut the lake on your tee shot, you can take a lot of length out of the hole.”

No. 14 is a dogleg right uphill then downhill to the green. You can try to cut across the elbow of the dogleg, but it's heavily treed at the corner.

The round ends with a medium length par-4 (410 yards from the back and 292 from the front). You hit your tee shot to a narrow landing area with a series of little bunkers on the left and a fairway bunker to the right. Your approach is then uphill to a green with mounds in the back.

The 18-hole layout plays at 7,078 yards from the back tees (74.1/132) with additional tees at 6,713 (72.5/127), 6,262 (69.7/126), 5,790 (67.3/122) and 5,350 (74.4/116).
